York Acorn 'A' suffered their second defeat in a row, in this seasons 40/20 competition when going down 56-16 @ home to higher league outfit Batley Boys.
Most of the first half was a keenly fought contest, with Acorn more then holding their own.
Crucially for Acorn during the first half was the form of prop forward Adan Endersby - who never took a backward step all the game, powerful winger Luke Swales who also proved difficult to stop at times and lively stand off Thomas Mackley.
After falling behind to a an early unconverted try that saw the visitors take a 4-0 lead,Acorn hit back when on 10 mins loose forward Harry Bromwich capitalized on good approach play involving several pairs of hands to score an unconverted try out wide - that levelled the scires at 4-4.
Minutes later Acorn moved into a 10 - 4 lead, when good defending saw them create a ball spill due to numbers in the tackle and full back Joel Johnson was on hand to pick up the loose ball and score a try which scrum half Dan Lazenby added the extras to.
After that, Acorn found Batley just too good for them especially full back / center Geoffrey Price who tormented them all game .
Acorns only other points came from a Thomas Mackley try and Lazenby conversion.
